The Hatched Works of R.W. Berky
GLOBAL ARTS CORPS
For some years now, Berky has been involved with Global Arts Corps, a dynamic theatre foundation operating in conflict zones around the world, created by Michael Lessac. As part of the directorial team, Berky assisted in the development and production of See You Yesterday, a theatre piece with 19 young Cambodian artists using circus arts and physical theatre to investigate and explore memories these artists have inherited from relatives and countrymen living under the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime of the 1970s.
After having its world premiere in Phnom Penh in 2016, See You Yesterday was performed at the International Reconciliation Theatre Festival in Kigali, Rwanda and at a Congolese refugee camp on the Rwandan border, where it was performed three times to a total of 23,000 people. The pictures here are from the refugee camp performances. Subsequently, See You Yesterday toured throughout Cambodia and received its U.S. premiere in May of 2019.
